When fashion is not about `size-zero`

New Delhi, Aug 5 (ANI): In a world, where young skeletal figures usually glide down the catwalk, watching a group of "gypsy souls" take the ramp can be inspiring.

Mamtaa Gupta, a woman of strong mettle and enthusiasm, a textile, interior and fashion designer, recently previewed her collection of Mimathyma at Glam and Grub 10th Edition in a very spiritual yet fashionable way.

Keeping India's diverse cultural heritage, Gupta conceptualized the brand 'Mimathyma,' named after the scientific name of one of the most beautiful butterfly - Indian Purple Emperor.

Held at Cafe Public Connection, the event saw Gupta's exclusively designed collection, inspired by mother nature, which represents innovation and style together to bring in a fashionable twist.

Challenging the otherwise orthodox fashion world, Gupta's muses walked down the ramp sporting dresses made up of cotton block prints, organic knits and accessorised with pompoms, ghungroos, fresh flowers and glass bangles. Very gypsy like, yet truly Indian.

The "soul-travellers" who walked for Gupta were reiki and natural healer Sumita Pant; gynaecologist and obstetrician Dr Meenakshi Ahuja; fashion designer and tarot card reader Pooja A Bhandari; eye and tarot card reader Kashish Sharma; spiritual book and movie club runner Deepika Kumar; life coach Shikha Verma; bach flower and crystal therapist cum teacher Kamlu Hemrajani; mother earth healer Aneet Kaur; healing, wellness and beauty specialist Monika Shunyam; and handwriting analyst and graphologist Shruti Singh.

The ramp walk by such eminent and gorgeous ladies added a pinch of glamour and positive vibes to the evening.

Talking about the collection Gupta, who is the founder of Buzzaria Dukaan and Mimathyma, told ANI, "It's fusion, it's fun, it's gypsy, it's India - it's all of it together."

Explaining her funky theme, she added, "I love gypsies. They were healers, tarot readers, travellers- soul travelers. All the women I have chosen are soul travellers. They are travelling with their souls. They are doing things out of the box. They work in the spiritual world."

The USP of Mimathyma is that they work in collaboration with the women entrepreneurs across India and is an independently running micro manufacturing unit, each having 5 to 20 workers.

"I am a firm believer of MakeinIndia, Women Empowerment and Entrepreneurship. And I strive to provide employment and mentorship to women from lower income group and our crafts persons," Gupta noted. (ANI)
