Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh)[India], Oct. 20 (ANI
):The kin of a new born which died at the Dufferin Hospital in Kanpur
on Wednesday, today alleged medical negligence as being responsible for the child's death.
Deep Verma, a resident of Singhpur, had admitted his pregnant wife Shalini in Dufferin Hospital
on October 16. Shalini delivered a baby boy on the same night.
Deep Verma alleged that the child, who was hale and hearty, had fallen ill due to the negligence of doctors, and died on Wednesday morning.
"Last night, they said that the report is normal and the new born is healthy but we need to keep the child for 48 hours observation and then the family can take him home. Doctors demanded money for giving the good news and we agreed on the condition," said Shalini.
"I don't know whether they(doctors) treated my child or not, but my new born is no more. This is a proper case of medical negligence and we have complained to the police," she added.
"My child died because we could not fulfill their demands, but at least, they should have informed us that our child was getting critical," said Deep.
Family members also alleged that the doctors had demanded money from them which they refused to give.
The family members of the deceased boy first clashed with security guards and later attacked the doctors. Soon the police was called to sort out the matter. Senior police officials assured them that action would be taken against the doctors if found guilty after inquiry.(ANI
