Mysuru (Karnataka) [India], Oct. 22 (ANI): All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader J. Jayalalithaa is said to be on the road to recovering from her illness at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai, and in anticipation of her coming out of the medical facility soon, special prayers were held at Mysuru's Chamundeshwari Temple.

Her followers offered gold, silver worth Rs 1.60 crore to the presiding deity Chamundeshwari and performed special prayers for her well being.

On Friday, Dr. N. Sathyabhama, Director of Medical Services at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai, said Jayalalithaa is sitting up, completely off sedation, interacting and progressing along expected lines almost a month after being admitted to the facility.

She said that experts from various health streams were monitoring her during the day and taking care of all parameters with regard to her treatment.

The team of specialists treating her calibrated the drug dosage, which led to the success in treating the continuing pulmonary oedema. The mitral valve infection was treated effectively and, as a result, fluid accumulation in the lungs has been halted.

Respiratory support continues but once the tracheostomy tube is removed, she will be able to communicate verbally. (ANI)
