Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], Nov.17 (ANI
): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is playing politics by protesting against demonetisation of high value currencies, and warned that that she was not thinking of national interest in doing so.
"This is the one move that does away with black money in electoral process, terrorism, fake currency, drug mafia. Does Mamata Banerjee want for a country to be free of all these menaces? If yes, then, she should not be raising these questions at all," BJP leader Shaina NC told ANI
Shaina also accused Mamata of playing politics without thinking of national interest.
Commenting on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, she said he was just propagating the issue to re-emerge as a leader of some consequence in the national mindset.
On Wednesday, after leading a march of opposition leaders to Rashtrapati Bhawan, Mamata said now common people have to wait for cash to arrive in ATMs.
"Initially ATM meant 'All time Money' now it is 'Aayega tab milega'," she said.
Banerjee along with leaders of the Shiv Sena, National Conference and Aam Aadmi Party met President Pranab Mukherjee to protest against the problems caused to people over the government's move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes as they continued their tirade against the Modi government.
Addressing the media, Banerjee took a dig at the Centre's alleged mismanagement over cash crunch.
"We have requested the President to speak to the government and bring back normalcy in the country," she said.
She hoped President Pranab Mukherjee, who served as the finance minister during UPA regime, would take the appropriate steps to resolve the situation. (ANI
