New Delhi [India], Nov. 22 (ANI): Samajwadi Party's state president,?Shivpal Yadav on Tuesday said demonetisation is inappropriate as farmers are unable to buy fertilizers for growing rabi crops.

Yadav told ANI, "Farmers in the entire state and nation are extremely sad. Demonetisation has affected farmers a lot. Farmers buy fertilizers and seeds through district cooperative banks and samitis. Cooperative banks give loans to farmers, which has been banned."

"Till the time, the ban does not lifts, they will not get any benefits. Prime Minister Modi should know that through the organisations of the Central Government, the fertilizers are provided to the Zila cooperative banks and thereafter farmers take loans from the banks for sowing of crops," he added.

Yadav further said, "But all the local banks have been banned for transaction of money. Now, if the farmers cannot buy fertilizer from the crops, then the crops will also not grow. So, in the entire nation, if the ban is not lifted, then it will not only disappoint the farmer, it will also make people die of hunger."

President of the sugarcane committee Ishwar Pal told ANI, "The farmers have suffered losses because of demonetisation. Our transactions are through cooperatives only. There is no private shop in our area. The distribution of seeds and fertilisers takes place through the cooperative stores. The old banks of farmers which were in cooperative banks have come to standstill and even the business class is of farmers,"

Earlier, in a press conference the Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said that the farmers can withdraw up to Rs. 25,000 per week from their KYC compliant accounts. Besides, Kisan Credit Cards will be subject to same new limit.(ANI)
