New Delhi [India], Sept. 23 (ANI): The Congress on Friday cornered the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab over the recent untoward incident where a leader of the ruling party and his son were caught on camera assaulting a nurse and demanded their expulsion.

Congress MP from Ludhiana, Ravneet Singh Bittu, said Bathinda lawmaker and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal should meet the nurse and apologise to her.

" Paramjit Singh, Daljeet Kaur and their son should be immediately expelled from the party. Then only everyone will know that there are some truth in what Badal advertises on television about women rights," Bittu told ANI.

Echoing similar sentiments, Punjab Congress in-charge Asha Kumari dubbed the incident as tragic and alleged that the Shiromani Akali Dal very often indulges in such acts.

"This is a very sad incident. Things like these are becoming common. He belongs from the ruling party and most of the time the party members have been found involved in such kind of incidents," she said.

Earlier today, a case was registered against SAD sarpanch Daljit Kaur's husband Paramjit and their son for assaulting a nurse in Moga.

The father-son duo thrashed the nurse Ramandeep Kaur at Goyal Hospital when asked to wait outside. They were at the hospital to get a relative discharged. Where they were asked to wait by Ramandeep, they abused her first and then thrashed her.

According to sources, Ramandeep was five months pregnant.

The duo has been booked under Sections 451 (house trespass to commit an offence), 323 (punishment for causing hurt voluntarily), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intent in crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Baghapurana in Moga district. (ANI)
