Defence experts hail army's preparedness post Baramulla terror attack

New Delhi [India], Oct. 4 (ANI): With the Indian Army effectively foiling the bid of the militants to enter an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, defence expert Qamar Agha on Tuesday hailed the preparedness of the armed forces and said it showed it was fully geared to tackle any situation.

"Pakistan backed militants have been trying to enter into military camps in India. We have witnessed this in Uri, Pathankot and other places as well. So, far they have not succeeded and I am sure that they will not be able to achieve their objectives. Forces are at alert and have prevented the militants from entering the military camps," Agha told ANI.

"The army preparedness in Baramulla itself shows that the militants were not allowed to go inside the camps and make heavy losses or reach up to the armoury which they have been attempting," he added.

The defence expert further called on the nation to support the Indian armed forces at present, as such terror attacks are expected more in the near future.

"I am sure the militants will not be able to achieve their goals as the Indian forces are fully geared up to tackle any situation," he said.

Days after India destroyed terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), heavily-armed militants attacked a BSF and adjoining 46 RR camps in Baramulla district on Sunday evening. One BSF jawan was killed in the attack, and another was injured.

The slain jawan has been identified as Constable Nitin while the injured personnel is Constable Pulwinder. Both belong to the 40th battalion of the BSF. The terrorists, whose numbers are still unknown, tried to enter the camp through a public park near it, but failed to breach the security.

Earlier, Pakistan targeted Indian posts along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor tehsil late Sunday evening.

Pakistan has stepped up cross-border firing after the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The attack came a fortnight after terrorists attacked an army base in Uri, killing 19 soldiers. (ANI)
