New Delhi [India], Sep 2 (ANI): Flipkart Group company Myntra has announced the appointment of Manohar Kamath as head of 'Myntra Fashion Brands' (MFB). A seasoned leader in the fashion and retail industry with over 25 years of experience, Manohar will take over from head of Myntra Fashion Brand, Abhishek Verma.

"Myntra's In-House Fashion Brands have grown steadily over the years and some of them have stood apart as the bestselling online fashion brands in the country. A lot of the success of these brands is owed to the leadership of Abhishek who spearheaded the Myntra Fashion Brands business and has been instrumental in building a bouquet of 11 independent and differentiated fashion brands. The success of Roadster and HRX is a testimony to Abhishek's ability to build mega brands from scratch. We wish him all the best in his endeavors," said CEO Myntra, Ananth Narayanan.

"With over two-and-half decades in retail working with diverse brands, he is the perfect fit for our MFB business at a time when these brands will undergo a dimensional change by being the lead engines of our omni-channel strategy," added Ananth Narayanan.

"I'm thrilled with my new assignment at Myntra. I have watched Myntra grow over the years and build a strong portfolio of brands and I am looking forward to be a part of its journey to transform online fashion in India," added Manohar Kamath.

Manohar moves into his new role at Myntra from Shoppers Stop, where he was the Chief Operating Officer and Director on the Board of Crossword Book Stores and Nuance (India). His career spans building the denim business at Arvind with brands like Ruf and Tuf and delivering business turnarounds through relentless focus on the consumer at Shoppers Stop.

At the height of his eight year stint with Shoppers Stop, he has lead National Retail Operations, Best Practices, Customer Relations, Visual Merchandising, Business Development, Projects, Institutional Sales, Administration and Maintenance and more.

His rich experience in the field of apparel retail before and after the advent of E-commerce in the sector will enable him to focus on key areas of development, brand building, strengthening the existing portfolio of brands and creating a roadmap for the future among others.

Soon after his Post Graduation in Business Management from TA Pai Management Institute, Manipal, in 1990, Manohar joined Arvind Mills as a Marketing Manager. His association with Arvind for a decade helped hone his skills in Fabric Marketing, Key Account Management, Channel sales, Brand Launches and Supply Chain Operations.

In early 2001, Manohar joined Globus, a retail clothing store chain based in Mumbai. His exposure to Customer Relations, Loyalty and Analytics at Globus further strengthened his capability and expertise in fashion retail, especially in understanding fashion consumers.

As the country's leading destination for buying fashion online, Myntra will be looking at leveraging Manohar's experience and capabilities to strengthen and expand its offerings in the coming months. (ANI)
