): Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-MC) chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal
on Thursday took oath as the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal.
He took the oath of office and secrecy from President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Sheetal Niwas, reports the Himalayan Times.
The swearing-in ceremony took place a day after he was elected to the top post securing 363 votes during the election held at Legislature-Parliament, while 210 votes were cast against him.
Bimalendra Nidhi of Nepali Congress and Krishna Bahadur Mahara of CPN-Maoist Centre also took oath as Deputy Prime Ministers.
Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, outgoing prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Sushila Karki, Speaker Onsari Gharti, former prime ministers, former ministers, leaders of political parties, chiefs and representatives of constitutional bodies, representatives of Kathmandu-based diplomatic missions and high level government officials were among those present during the swearing-in ceremony.
Dahal, also known as Prachanda, led a guerrilla war against the government in the past and later served as the Prime Minister from 2008 to 2009. (ANI
