Bangladesh will be a bridge between East and West: Sheikh Hasina

Updated: Oct 22, 2016 20:18 IST

Dhaka [Bangladesh], Oct.22 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has said that her country will act as a medium between the East and the West for economic prosperity.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina was speaking at the inaugural session of the party's 20th national council.

During the session, she reiterated her commitment to Bangladesh's development and outlined her plans for the future of the nation.

The Dhaka Tribune quoted Hasina as saying, "In South Asia, Bangladesh will be a bridge between the east and the west. We are giving importance to regional connectivity for this reason."

Hasina claimed that policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism is being maintained by her government.

The Awami League president said, "We have taken all measures against it. No one will be able to use Bangladesh's soil for terrorist activities. We will not allow anyone to use our land to wage attacks on any neighbouring countries."

" South Asia will connect the east and the west and Bangladesh will be a peaceful nation that acts as a conduit for this connection," she said. (ANI)
