Brahumdagh Bugti hails Swaraj's speech at UNGA, urges New Delhi to keep raising Balochistan issue

Brahumdagh Bugti hails Swaraj's speech at UNGA, urges New Delhi to keep raising Balochistan issue

Geneva [Switzerland], Sept. 26 (ANI): Hailing Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's response to Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly ( UNGA) on terrorism and human rights violations in Balochistan, Baloch Republican Party (BRP) founder Brahumdagh Bugti has said that they expect New Delhi to keep rising the issue.

"This is a very good move and we expect that India will keep raising this issue, because India is that democratic country and responsible country, which undertakes its responsibility with sincerity," Bugti told ANI.

Bugti maintained that after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on the Balochistan issue, the Baloch people are seeing a ray of hope in their cause.

"The developments which are taking after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech, I feel this will help stop massacres of Baloch people and the sufferings we are facing for over 50-60 years will end. We are seeing a ray because usually when such statements are raised it only remains as statement but in this case there is continuity," he added.

The BRP leader was of the opinion that the support his community is getting from India is what they always wanted.

"The people of our community are watching Indian brothers, the support we are getting, and we always wanted that," he added.

On being asked about his cousin Shahzain Bugti, who has said of backing Pakistan, Bugti said it was mere stunts by Islamabad.

"Pakistanis do such stunts. He stays in Islamabad and isn't able to go to Balochistan. So if they five people supporting them, then they start saying that they will fight against India. When they can't do anything for their country then what will they do for Pakistan. Everyone is lying," he added.

Bugti who has been living in Switzerland and is seeking political asylum in India also talking about the issue said that he is hoping that something positive comes out.

Balochistan province has been in the eye of a storm since Indian Prime Minister Modi highlighted the atrocities and human rights violations being committed in the province by Pakistan.

India has also raised the Balochistan issue at the UN and the latest was Swaraj's address today.

Swaraj said, "Those accusing others of human rights violations would do well to introspect and see what egregious abuses they are perpetrating in their own country, including in Balochistan. The brutality against the Baloch people represents the worst form of State oppression."

Lambasting Pakistan's nefarious design on Jammu and Kashmir, Swaraj also advised Islamabad to abandon its dream of separating any part of India, saying "Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and will always remain so." (ANI)
