Washington [USA], Jan. 3 (ANI
): U.S. President-elect Donald Trump
has mocked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over his latest missile threats
, saying it won't ever materialise.
"North Korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching parts of the U.S. It won't happen!" Trump tweeted on Monday.
The President-elect also dragged China into the issue, saying Beijing is doing nothing to help with the rogue nation.
"China has been taking out massive amounts of money & wealth from the U.S. in totally one-sided trade, but won't help with North Korea. Nice!" Trump tweeted.
The President-elect's remarks came after the North Korea
n leader declared in a televised New Year's Day speech that his military is on the brink of testing its first intercontinental ballistic missile: a rocket that can be equipped with nuclear weapons and is powerful enough to reach any part of the U.S.
Kim's comments fuelled speculation that Pyongyang will test a long-range missile to coincide with his birthday on January 8 or around the time of Trump's inauguration, in an attempt to ratchet up the pressure ahead of any negotiations with Washington, reports the Guardian. (ANI
