£140 tickets for Harry Potter play selling online for over £8,300

London, Aug. 15 (ANI): The craze for the Harry Potter series is such that fans are paying an exorbitant 8,300 pounds to buy online tickets for 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' play.

The original price of the tickets is worth just 140 pounds.

The price of re-sale tickets, which are up to 60 times more expensive, have prompted the play's producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender to condemn ticket touting, reports the Daily Mail.

They have also warned that those who buy tickets from re-sale websites may be refused entry.

"The secondary ticket market is an industry-wide plague, and one which we as producers take very seriously, Our priority is to protect all our customers and we are doing all we can to combat this issue," they said.

Adding, "We have already been able to identify, and refuse entry, to a significant number of people who purchased tickets through resale sites and will continue to track down touts and refuse entry to anyone who has knowingly bought a ticket from a tout through the secondary market.

The fans, who were able to get hold of tickets from official vendors, had to pay significantly less, with some seats selling from £15 and 300 tickets for every performance priced at £20 or less for each of the two plays.

The play, written by Jack Thorne, is shown in two parts and stars Jamie Parker as Harry Potter and Poppy Miller as Ginny. (ANI)
