Prize money is as important as medals: Akshay Kumar

Updated: Aug 16, 2016 10:16 IST
Mumbai, Aug. 16 (ANI): The Khiladi of Bollywood Akshay Kumar feels that being practical in life is very important.

Hence according to him, world sporting platforms like Olympics should include prize money along with medals and certificates to honour the winners there.

"It's great to receive medals and certificates. But don't you think receiving money is equally important? We know many of them come from poor families. Hence what we can see that many a times, they sell off their medals for money. So when someone is honoured, he should be given both money and medal. It is indeed important because we have to be practical in life," he told media here yesterday.

"Our Government has this rule to honour the sportsperson who wins gold, silver or bronze in the Olympics," added the 'Rustom' actor.

On the related note, the 48-year-old actor has been one actor, for whom awards and stardom never go hand in hand.

Though he has been tagged to be "Bollywood's busiest leading men" by Forbes and made himself be among its 'Celebrity 100 list of the World's Highest-Earning Entertainers,' Akshay has received trophies in the award events.

On the work front, the actor now is enjoying the success of his recently released flick 'Rustom' that opened at the box office with Rs. 15 crore. (ANI)
