'Coward' Beyonce, Jay-Z failed to defend Rachel Roy: Damon Dash

'Coward' Beyonce, Jay-Z failed to defend Rachel Roy: Damon Dash

London [UK], Sept. 7 (ANI): Beyonce's critically acclaimed 'Lemonade' has gone to the extent of getting her and hubby branded as "cowards".

Damon Dash, a former friend and business partner of Jay-Z, has branded the couple "cowards" for failing to defend his ex-wife, Rachel Roy amid rumours that she was 'Becky with the good hair'' from the track 'Sorry', reports the Mirror.

Rachel Roy, who is also a fashion designer, had her emails hacked for being wrongly identified, after which her ex-husband came to her defense and blasted the superstars for doing nothing to stop the speculation.

Dash had also been subject to online harassment after the release of the song, where a man cheats with a girl nicknamed 'Becky'.

"They are cowards. They should have stepped up and said something," the 45-year-old actor is reported to have said in an interview with the Grazia magazine.

"Adults can go and harass a kid on behalf of an R & B singer? The trolls should have been put in jail for that, it was crazy," he said.

The song 'Sorry' contains the lyrics:

"He only want me when I'm not there.

He better call Becky with the good hair."

The allegations and online harassment were all a result of Roy posting, on Instagram, a selfie of her laughing in the back of a car and a caption that read:

"Good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always. live in the light #nodramaqueens."

Following this, Roy put out a note justifying the intention of her post, "I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumours."

"Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother - and I know many mothers would agree - I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable", she added.

"I would hope that the media sees the real issue here - the issue of cyber bullying - and how it should not be tolerated by anyone", expressed Roy. (ANI)
