London, July 22 (ANI
): Looks like it was easier for Caitlyn Jenner
to reveal about her transition than being a Republican supporter.
The ' I Am Cait
' star defended the Republican Party while speaking during an event at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio earlier this week, reports the Mirror.
The former Olympian took part in a Q-and-A session where she admitted that she had been disappointed in the Republican Party
but remained hopeful.
"I have to admit I've been very disappointed over the last five or 10 years and so I won't give up hope on it," she said at the Big Tent Brunch event hosted by a conservative LGBT organisation American Unity Fund.
Caitlyn further said that her political affiliation causes more problems than when telling people she was transitioning.
"It was easy to come out as trans. It was harder to come out as a Republican," she said.
Caitlyn, whose political views were shaped by her late father William Jenner, said that the Republicans just need more education on LGBT issue
"I get it. The Democratic Party does a better job when it comes to the LGBT, the trans community and all that kind of stuff," she said.
Party needs to understand. They need to know people who are trans," added Jenner. (ANI
