`Dangal` trailer trending high with Mahavir Singh's inspirational journey as a father

Updated: Oct 20, 2016 14:14 IST

New Delhi [India], Oct. 20 (ANI): UTV Motion Pictures released the trailer of Aamir Khan starrer 'Dangal' and it inspires nothing less than bravery and determination through a father's journey.

In some hours of its release the movie has not only garnered more than three lakh views, but is also trending high on Twitter under hashtag #DangalTrailer and receiving huge appreciations.

Based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita, the film traces the inspirational journey of a father who trains them to become world class wrestlers. Eventually the daughters won gold and silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The three-minute trailer begins with a glimpse at the dream of Phogat, a former wrestler himself, to see a successful champion in his child which is still in the womb.

However, much to his disappointment, we also see this dream shattering with the birth of daughters one after another until one day the family gets a complaint from the neighbourhood whose children have been beaten up black and blue by the two daughters.

Phogat sees it as a blessing in disguise and there begins their journey together.

"Hamari chhoriyaan chhoron se kam hain ke?" questions the father as he shows the world that women are at par with men.

Produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Siddharth Roy Kapoor, the biopic will hit theatres on December 23, this year. (ANI)
