): India's dismal show continues at the 2016 Rio Olympics
as shooter Gagan Narang failed to qualify for the finals of the 50m Rifle Prone Men's Qualification event on Day 7 here at the Olympic Shooting Centre on Friday.
The London Olympics medallist started the qualification round brightly, but tailed off a little in the last two series to finish with a score of 104.7, 104.4, 104.6, 103.0, 104.0 and 102.4.
Narang's score of 102.4 in the last series was below his average. He ended with a total of 623.1 points to make a lowly 13th-place finish in the qualifiers.
Meanwhile, it was an end of the Rio journey for other Indian shooter Chain Singh
, who also failed to qualify for the finals after finishing at 36th place with an overall score of 619.6.
Narang, however, will still have a chance to win a medal for the country when he will compete in the 50m Rifle 3 qualification on August 15. (ANI
