Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Aug.12 (ANI): In another setback for India, shot putter Manpreet Kaur on Friday crashed out of the Rio Olympics after failing to qualify for the finals of the women's shot put event here at the Olympic Stadium.

With her best throw of only 17.06m, the 26-year-old ended her campaign with an overall rank of 23rd among the women in both groups combined.

The distance required to book a final-berth in the tournament was set at 18.40m, with room for 12 top performers to advance to the finals.

The dismal show on the part of India continued in Men's Discus throw as well as Vikas Gowda also failed to reach the finals of the event.

Gowda made a lowly 16th-place finish in the qualification round after registering his best throw of 58.99 m in his second attempt. (ANI)
