Proteas seek to `exploit` Aussie rookies in Adelaide: Duminy

Proteas seek to `exploit` Aussie rookies in Adelaide: Duminy

Melbourne [Australia], Nov.22 (ANI):South Africa middle-order batsman JP Duminy has said his side will look forward to `exploit` Australia's debutants in the Adelaide Test as they aim to complete a three-match series whitewash against the Steve Smith-led side.

After going down 0-2 in the series against the Faf du Plessis-led side, the embattled Australian team management had made extraordinary six changes for the third Test to be played from Thursday.

Peter Handscomb, Nic Maddinson, Matt Renshaw will make their debut, while Chadd Sayers could also play his first Test at Adelaide Oval.

Reflecting on the changes in the Australian squad, Duminy said the visitors would do their homework for the newcomers.

"I don't know about them - I'm sure we'll do the preparations leading up to the game. When you're making your debut in the Test match arena it's always a nervy moment, no matter who you are. Any sort of team is going to try to exploit that at some time or another. So it's definitely something we'll consider," Sport24 quoted Duminy as saying.

The Adelaide Test will also mark the first pink ball Twilight match for South Africa.

Duminy informed that the Proteas would train themselves over the next few weeks at dusk, when it is difficult to see the pink ball while batting or fielding.

"Personally, the ball sort of has a gloomy feel to it. I'm not sure what is causing it, because the weirdest thing is when it's completely dark, it's a little bit easier," Duminy said.

"So you just have to fight through that phase. I don't know if it's a danger, it's just something you need to be wary of. The more we can spend time in that light, the easier it will be for us," he added.

Joe Burns, middle-order batsmen Adam Voges (who was not considered for selection due to concussion) and Callum Ferguson, gloveman Peter Nevill and fast bowler Joe Mennie were all dropped out the side that lost by an innings and 80 runs in the second Test in Hobart. (ANI)
