Sheila concerned over slow progress of women's safety measures Dec 16, 2:41 pm
New Delhi, Dec. 16 (ANI): Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday expressed concerns over the slow-paced functioning of measures that had been initiated to bring crimes against women to a standstill. All the steps that were initiated, the progress has either slowed down or isn't going at an expected growth rate; in effect that crimes against women, if newspaper reports and statistics were to be believed, instead of going down have actually gone up," Dikshit told ANI here. "This is a worrisome fact for the women of the nation, administration and the society at large. If you can't keep your girls and women safe in this country, what else can you do? It is the duty of the administration to look into the issue," she added. Two years after the gang rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student in a moving bus shook the nation and brought some changes in laws, the three-time Delhi Chief Minister called for additional initiatives to be brought into action to ensure women's safety
