Virgin Atlantic unveils swanky new Upper Class cabin

London, April 25(ANI): Virgin Atlantic has unveiled its new Upper Class cabin, which features the world's longest bar in the skies, mood lighting, and crystal curtains.

The new-look cabin, which took four-and-a-half years and a hefty 156 million dollars to complete, took to the skies on a flight from London to New York on the weekend, the Daily Express reported.

Passengers can snap up tickets on the decked-out jet for around 1200 dollars on the London to New York route - the only one it's flying on currently.

But those who can't afford the hefty cost can have a view of the luxurious cabin from their home with the virtual "PlaneView" showroom, which has over 40 YouTube videos.

The curtains on board are studded with over 1000 Swarovski crystals.

It also features the longest bar in the skies, stretching 2.5 metres and accommodating eight people.

The futuristic bar now located separately from the cabin and "has great new spaces to sit and socialise with fellow passengers".

There is also mood lighting which changes colour, including purple and red, throughout the flight in a bid to help passengers relax and sleep.

At 221 centimetres - four centimetres longer than previously - the "seat-beds" are the longest business class beds in the skies and reclines 50 per cent more than the previous version.

Though it appears comfortable for those wanting to sleep, passengers wanting to pass the time by watching movies or playing games will need to twist around - the screen faces forward while the seat faces sideways.

An opaque window is built into the divider between seats, making it feel like there's more room. Plus they'll bring out the afternoon tea set for those on afternoon flights.

There is a 30.7cm touchscreen monitor at each seat, which is loaded with the airline's new entertainment system JAM.

The Upper Class Suites will be added to the airline's Boeing 787s beginning in 2014. (ANI)
