US woman reunited with missing class ring after 38 years

New York, August 10 (ANI): A woman thought her class ring had been lost forever when her then boyfriend misplaced it during football practice nearly four decades ago.

Nancy Bunnell ordered a replacement and eventually forgave her now husband, Tim Bunnell, for losing the ring on the field of his Ripon, California, high school in 1973.

"It wasn't good," the New York Daily News quoted Tim as saying of losing the ring.

But last month, Nancy said that she got an "unbelievable" surprise when she saw a story in a local newspaper which said that a 1974 class ring identical to her own had been found by a cheerleader during practice. The ring even had her initials engraved in the back.

"I was in shock. Yeah. I was just very excited," Nancy said at the prospect of reuniting with the ring.

According to the news report, the ring survived thousands of football games and even the resodding of the field.

Nancy quickly called around, and was disappointed to learn that the item had already been claimed.

Days later, when she came home she found her husband waiting for her, with the class ring on his pinkie.

It turned out that Tim had read the same article and had been quick to retrieve the missing item.

"Since he had originally lost it, he thought he should be the one to give it back to her," the couple's son, Fred Bunnell added. (ANI)
