Danish nursery offering 'free childcare' to parents for making more babies

   Sep 14, 1:49 pm

London, Sept 14 (ANI): A group of nursery workers in central Denmark has offered parents to provide two hours' free childcare, so that they can go to bed and make more babies.

They have taken this step in order to draw attention towards the decreasing number of births and to do something about it.

According to Dorte Nyman of the Grasshoppers kindergarten in North Fyn, lack of young children meant the future of local nurseries was doubtful.

Nyman is expecting nearly half of the parents to accept this offer.

"We have 42 children in the kindergarten, and we'll be looking after 20 tonight," the BBC quoted Nyman as saying.

Nyman asserted that there are other nurseries too offering the same service, as because of the low birth rate, the nurseries will face a reduction in their funding from local government.

"Without money we can't look after the children well, and if there aren't enough children, there are not enough jobs for our workers," she added.

With Denmark standing at number 185 out of 221 countries in the world, in terms of birth rate, the country will face problems in supporting pensioners and others who are dependent on state benefits. (ANI)
