Aussie man reunited with stolen wedding ring after 13yrs

London, Aug 21 (ANI): An Australian man got reunited with his wedding band on his 13th anniversary of when it was stolen.

The ring, with the inscription of 'eternally yours', was stolen in June 1998 after thieves broke into an anonymous couple's home in Lithgow, northwest of Sydney, Australia.

In June, a truck driver spotted the silver band when he stopped on the Great Western Highway road near Katoomba, about 40km south of the couple's house.

Understanding the ring's sentimental value, he returned it to the New South Wales Police, who in turn handed it back to the man's wife after going through old records.

"To say he and his wife were surprised and delighted is the understatement of the century," the Daily Mail quoted a police spokesman as saying.

"They were both incredibly happy. It's fair to say there were tears of joy. The husband had never really gotten over the loss of the ring. It is obviously very, very important to them both," added the spokesman. (ANI)
