Woolen Expo held in Nagaland

   Dec 26, 6:21 pm

Dimapur, Dec 26 (ANI): A ten day woolen expo was organized recently in Dimapur, the commercial hub of Nagaland to provide woolen garment traders a bigger platform to showcase their products.

More than 50 traders and entrepreneurs from various districts of the state participated in the fair.

The expo was organized under the aegis of the Indian Chamber of Commerce along with Central Wool Development Board and Union Ministry of Textile.

"We want to promote woolen stuff here, that is our first objective and the second objective is to bring some production of wool so that people of North East can start thinking about producing wool on themselves instead depending upon Ludhiana or Maharashtra for the supply of wool," said Pranjit Tamuli, Senior Executive, Indian Chamber of Commerce.

The participants from other states made contacts with Naga traders and understood more about the markets in the northeast.

The fair served as a buyer seller meet for the exhibitors. "At the expo, we could bring our products and sell them from here. We are very happy as we got to meet many buyers and it's good to see our products sell," said Sholi, an exhibitor.

Apart from woolen products, jewellery items, traditional Northeast handloom and handicraft products were also on sale.

The good response of traders and buyers to the expo clearly reflected that business opportunities in Nagaland were on the rise. (ANI)
