Rahul Gandhi cites weaver's package to lures voters in Mau, UP

   Jan 11, 9:29 pm

Mau, Jan 11 (ANI): Congress Party General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday cited the multi-billion weavers' package at a public rally in Mau , also known as the powerhouse of textile industry, to lure the voters in the upcoming assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi told the public at the rally that the centre funded package of rupees 6,000-crore to the distressed weavers in the eastern Uttar Pradesh will help in alleviating their adversity.

"Now all the four demands have been met. Money has been transferred directly to your bank accounts. Threads have been subsidized. Weaver's credit card has been issued. The central government will give a guarantee of rupees two lakh loan," said Rahul.

The 41-year-old Congress leader also slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which had coined the slogan 'India Shining' during its rule in 2004.

"I don't understand the politics of television. I don't understand the politics of India shining. I don't want to understand it. I only hear people's voices," added Rahul. (ANI)
