Cabinet reviews implementation of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana

New Delhi, Jan 12 (ANI): The Cabinet today reviewed the implementation of the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana(RSBY). The Scheme which was launched in October, 2007 as the health insurance scheme for families living below the poverty line was made operationalised on April, 2008.

As on December 31, 2011, about 2.57 crore smart cards have been made active and more than 29.25 lakh persons have availed hospitalisation facilities in 24 States/UTs.

The RSBY has also been extended to occupational groups in the unorganized sector such as building and construction workers, street vendors, beedi workers omestic workers etc.

The scheme beneficiaries are entitled to smart card based cashless health insurance cover of Rs.30,000 per family per annum on a family floater basis. (ANI)
