The exhibition aimed to provide artisans a bigger marketing platform for their products.

"We want to create awareness on the Northeast handloom products. This handloom festival covers all the eight states so products of all the eight states are available," said S Ulanganathan, an official of Ministry of Textiles.

A seminar was also held, during the exhibition on the 'Role of handloom mark in the development of the handloom sector of the NE'. It provided the experts, stakeholders and the artisans a common platform where they could interact with each other. The seminar educated artisans about different government schemes that provide technical and monetary assistance to them.

"After coming here we learnt about different government schemes that exist for the entrepreneurs and weavers of the northeast region and how we can benefit from them. We get to know about different kinds of products floating in the market and how to find which one is of good quality," said Bikram Ray Medhi, an entrepreneur.
