Mar 24, 6:53 pm
New Delhi, Mar 24 (ANI): After recuperating from illness for several weeks, anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare will hold a one-day fast at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Sunday.Former IPS officer and aide of Hazare, Kiran Bedi on Saturday said the whistleblowers' families have been invited to attend the Anna's one day fast on Sunday."We have invited more than 25 families of whistleblowers for tomorrow's one day fast by Anna Hazare at Jantar Mantar, who will put forward their cases about what happened to them and whether or not they got justice till now or not," said Bedi. She further said till now whistleblowers have waged a lone battle against corruption and at times paid a price with their lives. "Our analysis tells us that these whistleblowers have been fighting their own battles, and in some instances lost his life as well and justice was also not meted out to them. Had there been a well established Lokpal, Lokayukta then these people would have gone to them and appealed for justice and protection," she said. Bedi added that inclusion of whistleblower clause is vital to the structure of Lokpal and Lokayukta act"The inclusion of whistleblower clause, in Lokpal and Lokayukta act, which is there in Jan Lokpal bill and not in Lokpal bill, is very important," she added.
Anna, who gave the clarion call to wage a nation wide war against corruption last year evoked a massive response from people across the social and economic spectrum initiating a national debate to bring in the Lokpal Act.Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had a discussion with leaders of political parties yesterday to arrive at a consensus over the provisions of the Lokpal
bill. (ANI)
