   May 2, 3:56 pm

New Delhi, May 2 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faced flak in Parliament on Wednesday when Congress lawmaker Girija Vyas highlighted the alleged police harassment of a Congress Member of Parliament from Gujarat.

The Lok Sabha, which recovened after a day's break owing to May Day celebrations, witnessed an uproar from the treasury benches for some time after Congress MP Vyas informed the Lower House of an incident in which Gujarat Congress MP Prabhaben Taviyad was allegedly manhandled by police during a Gujarat Foundation Divas in Dahod.

Taviyad broke down in Parliament while showing the bruises that she had suffered on her arms.

Lawmakers cut across party lines and demanded that the matter be taken up by the privileges committee.

Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said she would get back to the House after discussing the matter with the BJP-led government in Gujarat. (ANI)
