Uma Bharti asks Anna, Baba Ramdev not to insult Indian democratic system

   May 4, 11:42 am

Nagpur, May 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti has requested veteran social activist Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev to present an alternative political system before the country rather than insulting lawmakers and the entire democratic system .

"I would like to request both Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev to present an alternative political system before the country, and till then, criticize the current federal structure, but not insult it," said Bharti.

On Tuesday, Baba Ramdev had said that parliament consists of goons, corrupt, murderers, illiterates and urged people to up the ante to protect the sanctity of the temple of democracy.

"We have made people who are demons in disguise to sit in parliament but they do not deserve to hold these prestigious positions and be in power. But the system is still functioning and we have also accepted these 543 people will run the country," he said.

Baba Ramdev, whose controversial remarks triggered anger among several lawmakers, however, later defended his comments, saying it was not the first time that he has raised the issue, and added that his statement was bothering only dishonest people.

Hazare had also came out in defence of Baba Ramdev, and said that the yoga guru was not wrong in his remarks.

"There is one thing that whatever Baba Ramdev has said is not wrong. If it is wrong, there is proof against so many people today. When parties give tickets, why they give it to tainted people," he asked. (ANI)
