US Defence Secretary meets Manmohan Singh in Delhi

New Delhi, June 5 (ANI):
US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta, who is presently on a two-day visit to India as part of his weeklong Asia tour to explain a new U.S. military strategy to allies and partners in the region, met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here on Tuesday to further deepen defence ties with New Delhi.Panetta is expected to discuss the ongoing defence co-operation and regional security situation during his discussion with Defence Minister A.K. Antony.Antony will also host a dinner in honour of the visiting dignitary.Panetta will also hold discussions with the National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon. (ANI)

New Delhi, May 24. The two-day visit to India by President Hamid Karzai did not receive the media attention that it deserved, as it overlapped the visit of Chinese Premier Le Keqiang. But Hamid Karzai's brief visit was of major importance to India, as the region would have to face a sensitive situation next year following the withdrawal of forces of the United States and its allies from Afghanistan.
