Red Ribbon Express reaches Vizag to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS

Vizag, June 17 (ANI): Visitors thronged the Red Ribbon Express, a special train spreading awareness about HIV and AIDS, here recently. The two-day exhibition started on Saturday.

The Red Ribbon Express will halt at 162 stations during its yearlong journey across 23 states.

The train has world-class facilities onboard along with a team of skilled doctors who are working to create awareness about HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria. The coaches are equipped with touch screens, short videos and posters creating awareness in Telugu on general health.

"We have got more awareness about what people need to do to know about National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and AIDS, what all precautions have to be taken and how to treat people who are suffering from AIDS. We also learned about the precautions to be taken for pregnant women to save the child from the AIDS," said DSP Vardini, a student.

India with 2.5 million patients is among the top three countries with the highest number of HIV cases, alongside South Africa and Nigeria. (ANI)
