Congress asks Pakistan to play constructive role in mending ties
Jul 6, 10:10 am
New Delhi/Kolkata, July 6 (ANI): Congress Party has urged Pakistan to play a more constructive role and aid in the probe of key 26/11 handler Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, thereby contributing in mending ties between the two Asian neighbours."Whatever the government of India had been saying since 26/11, has been based upon or our averments, which are based upon evidence. And nearly offering a joint probe, or rejecting the contentions being made by India has insinuations is by no stretch of imagination a constructive approach which can serve the purpose of broadening and deepening the relationship between the two countries," said
Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari."Possibly the best confidence building measure between India and Pakistan would be concrete and substantive action against perpetrators of 26/11," he added.Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram had yesterday conveyed to Islamabad that information gathered after Jundal's interrogation clearly pointed the role of Pakistani establishment in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks."I have shared with you and the people of India, the essential information that we have gathered from him and we have used that to tell the Pakistan side that the essential information clearly points to non- state actors and perhaps even state actors, who were behind the 26/11," Chidambaram told the media in Kolkata."But beyond that, it would be completely wrong to share everything in public," he added.Jundal was earlier on Thursday remanded in Delhi Police custody for another 15 days by a city court, which said his interrogation by its Special Cell will help other agencies as well in their investigation.Delhi Police arrested Abu Jundal
on his arrival from Saudi Arabia at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on June 21.ccording to reports, Jundal has admitted his active role in the 26/11 attack, saying he had worked in tandem with terror mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. He has during his interrogation confessed his role in the country's worst terror attack and admitted that he was present in the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) control room in Karachi from where direction was being to the 10 terrorists who carried out the strike in Mumbai.
