Security forces recover cache of arms from cremation ground in Tinsukia

Tinsukia, July 24 (ANI): In a joint operation, the paramilitary forces and state police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a cremation ground in Assam's Tinsukia District.

The joint operation was conducted on Sunday night following specific intelligence reports received by the security forces.

"Personnel of the 12 Assam Regiment, 68 Battalion of the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and police searched the cremation ground in Dekapang village under Sadiya sub-division, and recovered two rocket launchers, one M-16 rifle, as well as different kinds of magazines," said Additional Superintendent of Police Jayanta Sarathi Borah.

While the police suspect the weapons belong to Maoist insurgents. Four of them were killed and the rest fled after a shootout in the area. (ANI)
