Pawar to meet PM-Sonia this evening, Congress-NCP truce in sight?

New Delhi, July 25 (ANI): Disgruntled Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and key UPA ally Sharad Pawar will reportedly meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi this evening.

Heavy Industries Minister and NCP leader Praful Patel will also be present at the meeting, scheduled for 5:15 p.m. at the Prime Minister's official 7, Race Course Road residence.

The meeting assumes significance, as it could decide the fate of the ruling coalition, iven that Congress-NCP ties have hit rock bottom both, at the Centre and in Maharashtra.

The NCP had, on Tuesday, announced that it would take a final call on its association with the Congress Party on Thursday. Hours after the announcement, Sonia Gandhi met Dr. Singh to discuss the rift between the two aggrieved allies.

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar is reportedly miffed with the Congress Party for not being considered the UPA's second in command after Pranab Mukherjee's exit from the party. (ANI)
