Uma Bharti in tune with Advani's 2014 polls predictions

Agra, Aug 6 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti on Monday backed party veteran Lal Krishna Advani's 2014 predictions of a Congress rout, saying the views mentioned by him in his blog is absolutely correct.

Bharti said she would like the NDA to form the government at the Centre, as the BJP was an integral part of the NDA.

"As I am in an important part of the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party, I would like our government to be formed (at the Centre). I would not like to comment on Advaniji's blog. But what Advaniji has written is correct," she said.

In his blog on Sunday, Advani predicted that the Congress Party would not get more than 100 seats in the 2014 parliamentary polls.

Advani said that a "non-Congress, non-BJP Prime Minister heading a government supported by one of the two principal parties" is feasible.

"This has happened in the past also. But, as the Prime Ministership of Chaudhry Charan Singh, Chandrashekhar, Deve Gowda and Inder Kumar Gujral, as also of Vishwanath Pratap Singh have shown, such governments have never lasted long," Advani said.

He wrote that the Congress Party's score might "sink to just two digits, that is, less than one hundred!"

"The party's miserable performance in Rae Bareilly, Amethi etc. which have long been regarded as pocket-boroughs of the first family, in the U.P. Assembly polls held recently and its dismal record in the Corporation elections of Uttar Pradesh where, as against the BJP's score of ten out of twelve Corporations, the Congress drew a big blank are clear indices of the party's collapsing fortunes," he added.

He went on to add that the BJP continued to be a beneficiary of the "fast eroding reputation" of the Congress.

The ruling Congress Party, however, hit back at Advani over his predictions on his blog that a non-Congress, non-BJP Prime Minister would come to power in 2014 supported by one of the two principle parties, with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal terming him as a 'failed analyst'.
