Vayalar Ravi allocated additional charge of Ministry of Science and Technology

New Delhi, Aug.10 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday directed Vayalar Ravi, Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, to assume additional charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology; the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on the advise of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan press release, Ravi takes additional charge of the above ministry in the absence of its ailing present incumbent Vilasrao Deshmukh.

President Mukherjee further directed that Vilasrao Deshmukh shall continue as Minister without Portfolio.

Deshmukh is presently admitted to a private hospital in Chennai with liver and multiple organ failure. Doctors have described his condition as stable, but add that he i still on life support. (ANI)
