Centre appointing 'favourable' people in higher judiciary: Yashwant Sinha

   Aug 19, 6:40 pm

New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha, on Sunday, alleged that the Central government has appointed favourable people as judges of various high courts.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Sinha claimed that a judge was kept on probation for three to six months and the Centre confirmed the person's posting only after it was assured that the said person was favourable.

"There is a Chief Justice in each state. They (Indian Government) post somebody in the state's high court. They keep such people on probation for three to six months and don't confirm his posting. They confirm his job once they are assured that the person is favourable," he said.

Sinha demanded the constitution of an independent and impartial National Judicial Commission to curb the menace.

"We have raised the issue of the National Judicial Commission again that we must have a National Judicial Commission which will take away this kind of discretion from the central government," Sinha added. (ANI)
