India to take Pak's involvement in fanning rumours in "a very grave manner": Manish Tiwari

   Aug 19, 7:18 pm

New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari on Sunday said that India takes the recent "provocation," allegedly sponsored by Pakistan, in "a very grave manner."

Interacting with mediapersons here, Tiwari, while commenting on Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik's denial of Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's claim that 110 hate websites are operating from Pakistan, said, "If a statement is issued at the level of the Union Home Secretary or if the Home Minister of India says that they are in possession of evidence which point towards a neighbour in trying to spread disharmony in the country, it is indeed a very serious matter, and I do hope our western neighbour is cognizant of the fact that India takes such provocation in a very grave manner."

Earlier on Saturday, giving a fresh twist to the ongoing investigations regarding the source of rumours pertaining to ethnic violence against the northeastern people, Home Secretary R.K. Singh said that the rumour-spreading SMSes have their origins in Pakistan.

Interacting with reporters here, Singh had said that such an activity is the first of its kind, and added that India will take up the matter with Pakistan.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik today called up his Indian counterpart Sushil Kumar Shinde to discuss India's charge that the SMS-es fanning ethnic tensions in India, in wake of violence in Assam, originated from Pakistan.

Malik has reportedly sought evidence from India to support its stand, while Shinde is known to have sought Pakistan's assistance in the matter. (ANI)
