Pak failed to meet any economic targets set for 2011-12, finds survey

Islamabad, May 30 (ANI): The Pakistan Economic Survey 2011-12 revealed that none of the economic targets set by the government were achieved.

According to The News, the survey claimed that the government had missed all the growth targets for the agriculture, industry and services sectors.

The economic growth remained at 3.7 percent despite a set target of 4.2 percent while the overall deficit stood at 8.94 trillion, which was 7.71 trillion in FY 2011-12, and over 47 billion were spent on external debt financing this year as compared to 33 billion during July-March last year.

The survey said the trade deficit of the country surged exponentially while imports have escalated to 37 billion dollars against total exports of 19 billion dollars. (ANI)
