Washington, June 28 (ANI): Web giant Google will be unveiling the prototype of its futuristic, web-connected glasses to U.S. software developers, who would be attending its annual conference in San Francisco .

The glasses named as Project Glass, will be sold by Google to people attending the three-day conference for 1,500 dollars, while the glasses will shipped early next year for other countries.

Addressing a press conference, Google co-founder Sergey Brin the firm would begin selling the glasses to the general public "less than a year" after that, as Google attempts to prepare the public for a 2013 debut.

The project is part of Google X, Brin's super-secret lab at Google that already produced the self-driving car. The glasses have been in development for more than two years, and are essentially a wearable computer that allows you to take pictures, get directions or video chat with friends.

"It has been transformative for my lifestyle, the Los Angeles Times quoted Brin, as saying.

The idea is to let people take advantage of technology, get quick access to information and communicate with the world, without taking them out of the world or out of the moment.

The truly hands-free device has a camera to capture life's fleeting moments, and lets others see the world through the wearer's eyes.

Google staffers working on the project said the glasses are lightweight and can be comfortably worn for extended periods. Brin claimed that the glasses last for about six hours of regular use. (ANI)
