Google buys online marketing service Wildfire for $250 mln

London, Aug 1 (ANI): Internet search giant Google has purchased the online marketing service Wildfire for 250 million dollars.

Google purchased the US-based website in a bid to expand its lucrative advertising business.

The site helps companies manage social media accounts on a range of services including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn , as well as online marketing campaigns, from a single website.

It was founded just four years ago but has already grown to around 400 employees and works with more than 16,000 companies including Virgin and Unilever, The Telegraph reports.

According to the paper, Jason Miller, Google's product management director, announced the acquisition today in a blog post.

"The ultimate goal is better and fresher content, and more meaningful interactions. People today can make their voices heard in ways that were previously impossible, and Wildfire helps businesses uphold their end of the conversation," Miller wrote.

"With Wildfire, we're looking forward to creating new opportunities for our clients to engage with people across all social services," he wrote.

"We believe that better content and more seamless solutions will help unlock the full potential of the web for people and businesses," he added.

Wildfire co-founders Victoria Ransom and Alain Chuard made a simultaneous announcement in a blog post, saying 'the combination of Wildfire and Google can lead to a better platform for managing all digital media marketing.' (ANI)
