World's richest woman Rinehart in fresh bid to bag Fairfax Media board berths

Sydney, Aug 7 (ANI): The world's richest woman and mining magnate, Gina Rinehart, has written a letter to retail shareholders of Fairfax Media to help her in her battle for seats on its board.

The letter from John Klepec, chief development officer at Rinehart's Hancock Prospecting, said she has 'never sought control of Fairfax Media' despite pushing for seats on its board, the Australian Financial Review reported.

"We have only requested two directors and an experienced independent director which, even if combined, is clearly a minority position on the board," the letter said.

According to The Herald Sun, the letter urged support to force chairman Roger Corbett to agree to performance targets.

It also urged to allow board members a choice on signing the company's charter or independence and to grant Hancock one more board seat, the paper said.

The letter also called for Fairfax to gain the 'technological savvy' to compete in modern media. (ANI)
