Rajasthan's handicraft exporters look for opportunities in corporate gifting

Jaipur, Aug.12 (ANI): Handicraft exporters in Rajasthan have started exploring opportunities in the corporate gifting industry by enhancing the quality of handmade items and by promoting local craftsmen.

Exporters feel that Rajasthan is a big sector for handicrafts and there are multi products available in the state.

They said items made of wood, stone, hand crafted articles like glass work, meena work, terracotta and ceramic were available for the corporate gift industry.

A handicraft exhibition is underway in Jaipur city, which began on August 10 and will conclude today.he chairman of the organising committee of the Forhex, Dilip Vaid, said on Sunday that by enhancing the quality and looks of handmade items, they can expand the industry and also promote craftsmen.

"Rajasthani craft has immense scope in corporate gifting. If I give a rough estimate and the craftsmen are ready to explore, then I feel that 1,500 - 2,000 crores business can easily be done," Vaid said.

He said that multinationals have set up bases in Rajasthan and they all need original craft and designs for their gifts.

The handicraft fair was organised for the fourth time in Jaipur by Federation of Rajasthan Handicraft Exporters.

Visitors at the fair said that handicraft items give a more enhancing and appealing look, when displayed at home. (ANI)
