United States porn filmmaker cheers Rick Santorum exit

Washington, Apr 12 (ANI): Republican presidential nominee hopeful Rick Santorum exit from the White House race was cheered by the United States porn film industry.

Santorum and the adult film industry have never gotten along. The former Pennsylvania senator turned presidential candidate railed against pornography, saying in March: "It contributes to misogyny and violence against women" and "is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

In reaction, Vivid Entertainment, one of the nation's largest adult entertainment providers, put out a video parodying Santorum.

So it should come as no surprise that Santorum's Tuesday decision to suspend his presidential bid was received warmly by those in the porn business.

Santorum was "bad for the country," Steven Hirsch, the founder and co-chairman of Vivid, told POLITICO.

Hirsch said that Santorum "doesn't seem to have his finger on the pulse of what's really going on out there. Again, this is 2012. People are more comfortable with sexually explicit material than ever before. I think this country has some bigger problems that they have to deal with than whether or not someone's watching an adult film on their computer."

Hirsch took special exception to Santorum's claim that pornography was bad for women, and made it clear that the adult industry is nearly universal in their political views: The Democratic Party is better for them. (ANI)
