Gilani says democracy in Pak 'immortal under President Zardari'

Islamabad, April 15 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has assured the country's citizens that democracy is immortal under President Asif Ali Zardari and added nobody needs to worry about the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government.

Chairing a meeting at the Dera Ghazi Khan airport, he said that the PPP government would go till the last boundary to save democracy in Pakistan.

According to Express Tribune, Gilani said that democracy was a gift to its people as it was the 'fruit' of the lessons the PPP learnt from the past.

While addressing a public gathering in Alipur district of Muzaffargarh, Gilani said that just like Zardari, he too was invited to follow former dictator Pervez Musharraf while serving in jail.

"But we maintained the dignity of democracy and I denied all offers against democracy and all designations," he added.

Gilani also said the creation of a Seraiki province was the solution to all the problems in the region.

Boasting about his party's achievements, he said that the party had planned the energy policy that will solve the problem of load shedding in the country after the upcoming budget.

"In this budget, 100,000 jobs have been planned to resolve the unemployment crisis in Pakistan," he added. (ANI)
