13 die in Indonesia's bus blaze

Jakarta, May 1 (Xinhua-ANI): A shuttle bus on the way from Indonesia's West Sumatra province to Riau province caught fire early on Tuesday morning, killing 13 passengers onboard and wounding six others, local media reported.

The ill-fated P.O. Yanti bus was engulfed by fire following an electricity shortcut in its electrical system, West Sumatra police spokesperson Mainar Sugiyono was quoted by the largest news portal detik.com. as saying.

The fire started at 4.30 a.m. local time on Tuesday and consumed the entire body of the bus.

Ibnu Isticha, a police officer in charge of overseeing the victim evacuation, said that the fire occurred in Harau subdistrict in Limapuluh Kota, West Sumatra province.

"The six wounded passengers have been evacuated to regional hospital in Payakumbuh. Four of them are still undertaking further treatment in the hospital, while two others were allowed to go home,"the police officer said. (Xinhua-ANI)
