University students stage anti-government rallies in eastern, southern Syria

Damascus, May 3 (Xinhua-ANI): University students in eastern and southern Syria staged anti-government protests on Thursday in a show of solidarity with their fellow students at the University of Aleppo that has reportedly witnessed confrontation between students and security agents, activists said.

Demonstrators rallied in the universities of eastern Deir al- Zour, and southern Daraa province.

Students have staged overnight Thursday protests at the Aleppo dormitory, setting off confrontation with security agents, which led to the killing of four students and the arrest of tens of others, said a activists ' network, Local Coordination Committees.
